Goodbye

Hi Class,

I hope you all doing great. First of all, I would like to thank you all, I had a really fun time with you and in the class. I learned a lot of new things in the class, I know we have the same class every level. I learned a lot with Sean, that's why I'm very grateful. I became very good in timed writing, I can write up to 6 paragraphs in 30 minutes. The only things that was hard is the research paper. It was hard because for me, i had few weeks to do it. Since I know how to do it and how to write the references I will be able to do it again in the real challenge, which is the university. The university is the real challenge I have next. Thank you all, thank you Sean. I wish you the best of luck in your lives.

Baraka

What Scene did you choose?
On the movies, Baraka, I chose the scene where is shows the waterfalls, a short scene for waterfalls and a rainbow in the middle.

Why? why did it stand out for you?
Because they showed the falls in a magnificent scenery, then there was a lake, or a sea with a lot of birds in the water.

What are some emotions - good or bad - that you felt as you watched this scene?
I was amazed the first time I saw the waterfalls, then I felt relaxed when they showed some scenes for the waterfalls and the water with the birds. The music played a strong rule in getting my attention and to make me express my emotions.

 - The scene made me remember many things in my childhood, the message i got from the scene is that I have to keep my smile no matter what happen.

Dear Mom, Dad

Dear Mom, Dad,

I hope you are doing well. I have something important to me that I want to share with you. I will provide you with lots of news about my future life and I hope you will be fine with what you are going to read in the next paragraph.

I want to get an American girlfriend. I know you wouldn't agree due to the cultural differences between our countries. Well, I think I have the right to tell my opinion, and as you raised me, opening up is not something new between us. For that reason, I will tell you how I think and why I'm taking this step.
I want an American girlfriend because this will help me practice English and improve my speaking skills. You will say that I can practice with my Saudi Arabian friend, and this will help us all. I have been living with my "Saudi Arabian friends" for almost a year, and guess what, I'm not improving. Instead, the only benefit that I got is I learned how to cook certain food. Do not try to tell me that I should get an Arabian girlfriend. I did it before and you know what happened, Arabian girls are the same and you know it. I want to learn about different things, new cultures, and new aspect of love which would be more different if I have an American girlfriend. It is true that we have different traditions, and you may find some difficulties in communicating, but I can assure you that I will be more than happy to translate, and I will teach her some Arabic. Mom, Dad, I'm grown enough to be trusted, and you always trust me with lots of things, I'm asking you to trust me in this. It is obvious that you are worried about me not coming home if I took this step, but you don't need to. In general, girls in the US are more open-minded. It is not necessarily that I will stay in the US forever, I may get married and live in Saudi Arabia, or even Europe. What I need you to know that you are my family and whatever happen nothing will keep me away from you.

I hope you give me a call when you read the letter.

You beloved son,
Motaz

Human Cloning, First E-Source

Annas, G. J., & Robertson, J. A. (1997). Human cloning. ABA Journal, 83(5), 80. Retrieved from EBSCOhost.

George Annas is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Health Law, Bioethics and Human Right of Boston University School of Public Health. In this article, he presents the pros and cons of cloning of human. He presents an idea in how many people have a definition of human; weakening the human dignity. His ideas was good because it may help me with my research which in mainly about why we shouldn't clone. One of the point I would use in my arguments is how the human have the right to not to regenerate. Professor George article has some supportive ideas and some new ideas that may support my research.

Spring break

Hi,

Spring break has been my best time to relax since last year. It's the time where you can have some rest, forget about the school, and prepare for summer. There are lots of places I'm thinking of visit in two weeks. First place I'm thinking about is Arizona. Grand Canyon and phoenix is one of the best places I went to last year, and I'm hoping to relive that time again. Another place is Cancun, Mexico. It's one of the best resort for many students in the spring break. Because of the low prices and expenses people like to spend their spring break their, and I would love to. The last place I'm thinking about is lake Havasu. One of the best community for student who like to relax and also to have fun. That's the most three places I'd like to escape to in the spring break.

Advice

"some people love to give advice - maybe even a little too much!". I start with a quote because it represent me. I like to give advices to my friends and sometimes when I see someone who might need one. The reason I'm doing this is because I had too much experiences in my life. Even though I'm just 24 years old, but my experiences came up early. That doesn't mean I never take advices. I always seek for advices regarding my personal problems. Usually I ask one of my best friends if it is personal. Sometimes I seek advice for many issues in my daily life, however, i rarely follow any of them. I'm commonly stubborn if it comes to decision about my life.
I cannot think of any advice that I would call it "The best", but I surely helped a lot of friends when they asked for my opinion about their problems. However, I have given advices to four friends of mine regarding studying abroad. They are all now in the U.S. and the study is going well for them, even though I had poor grades last semester.

Optimistic

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." - Winston Churchill
When you read this quote, you know it has a certain meaning in our life. It means that an optimistic person could find a solution for any problem. Whereas a pessimistic person would find a problem in any solution. I do agree with this quote. Usually I am optimistic and I see the good in any person and any problem. I rarely feel failed or defeated. I would try to make things right even when I fail, just the feeling that I get is enough. It applies in my whole life. For example, recently my file was put on hold by the cultural mission and that lead to take me out of the scholarship program. Now, I have to pay my tuition and my living expenses while I'm in the states. I'm still smiling, living my life like there is nothing wrong. Although I'm in a serious situation, but I know that by the end of the first entry everything will go well for me and I'll be able to retrieve my scholarship.

My Best Friend & I

Hi, today I'll talk about my best friend and how we have some similarities and differences. First of all, his name is Mohammad. He is currently lives in Saudi Arabia and have a good job as an instructor.
As friends, we have a lot of similarities. one of them is our personalities. we have the same attitude and it's known in the family. both Mohammad and I are relaxed, easy going, and down to earth. we are very much alike in our beliefs. the two of us like the same food. Although we have a lot in common, we have some difference, which don't keep us from being good friends. For example, I hate naps, I have never took a nap since high school. on the other hand, Mohammad always has to take a nap when he come back from his work. One more dissimilarity is that I'm an outdoor guy, I like to go out and be active outside, but Mohammad likes to keep himself inside and just hangout inside the apartment.
Even though we have some differences, but that don't keep us from being friends. We have a lot in common, and that what help us in our friendship.

One of My Favorite songs

I have a lot of songs that I like and maybe affected my life, but the most most effective is the song "My Love" by Westlife. The first time I heard the song is 4 years ago. It affected my life because it was the song which made me realize that I'm falling for my girlfriend at that time. It's been so long since the first but every time I hear it, it brings back all the feeling and the memories of my past relation ship.

My Fears

Hi, everyone has something to fear. Personally, I'm a happy and non concerned person. But i used to have a lot of things that i was afraid of. The first fear is failing, i was used to be good person in everything, when i do something i rarely fail and this is why i was afraid of failing. With time i overcome this failing, because I already know that there is no success without a fail. Another thing I was afraid of is the future, I was always thinking about what is going to happen in the future. Losing someone I love is is the biggest fear i have. especially when I'm living in the other side of the earth. Although having this fear is rare, but thinking about losing my friends in the US or the others back home terrifies me. To face my fears, mostly I keep myself busy, try to have fun, and being outdoor.

My New Year Resolution

Hi, today I'm going to write about my 2011 resolution. every single one wants to be better every year. For me, I have a lot of bad sides of me that I really would like to change and I'm planning to do it. First, my education. in the last five months I have been really lazy and I totally forgot my main purpose in United States. In 2011, I made a promise that I will make a change. Second, as a person, I hurt so many people that I care about. My true friends who were with me in the good and even the bad situations. All what I did is turn them down and push them away. This is the most important change I would like to make this year. Also I would love to lose some weight. I have done it before and I have lost more than 40 lbs but I need to lose about 20 more to reach my goal.

Little about me

Hi, My name is Motaz Alammash. I am from Saudi Arabia. I'm 24 years old. I came to United States to take my master degree in the field of computer science. As like any student, I have a dream. When I get my master degree, I would like to work in one the major communication companies in Saudi Arabia, it is called Mobily. Mobily is the biggest communication company in Saudi Arabia in the mean time, so working in such a big place and working beside the best is going to help me improve my knowledge and will improve my skills in many fields other than the computer field.

Getting a dream job in Saudi Arabia could be very hard sometimes, that's the reason would make me consider another company but in the same work field. Working in an oil company is another dream for any dreamer around the world, especially engineers. This is why I will not stop at Mobily. I will seek another dream and I hope everything goes will for me in the future.
